Classic Italian ~ Montreal Restaurant of the Week

One night I had a craving for classic Italian food. A good bowl of pasta, creamy mozzarella cheese, and fresh ingredients would have done it for me. Feature blogger and Canadian Dishcrawl queen, EatalianGirl, recommended Ristorante Quattro to satisfy my palette. Well, it did the trick. I had everything I wanted, and probably could have kept going if my stomach could handle it.

Ristorante Quattro’s charm shines through the 3 owners (who occasionally sing throughout the meal), and the elegant décor. Beautiful paintings hang along the brick walls on one side, while racks of wine dazzle on the other. Now, on to the food.

To start, the tomato and mozzarella di bufala salad with a crispy prosciutto was simple and full of flavor. The fruity olive oil and sweet balsamic perfectly complemented this starter.

Then came the wonderful butternut squash risotto. Creamy, sweet, rich, and delicious. The Arborio rice was perfectly cooked, and the little dollop of ricotta in the middle brightened up the overall flavor. Needless to say, the plate was clean.

The pasta I was craving so much lived up to all my expectations when it arrived in front of me. Fresh pappardelle (yes, they make their own pasta) with aromatic porcini mushrooms, dusted with parmesan was a hit. I savored every bite.

To end the meal, I ordered their specialty. Two cannoli’s filled with sweet ricotta cheese with crumbled pistachio’s. This was heaven in a dessert.

Next time, I’m in the mood for a good Italian meal, I know which ristorante I’ll return to.
